In commemoration of the Golden Jubilee year, MES’s Chembur English High School organised a Mathematics Extravaganza – ‘πiagic’. The focus of the event was to instill the skill of curiosity and creativity among the students.
The CEO and an ardent teacher of Mahatma Education Society – Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Sir inaugurated the event and personally demonstrated to the students, how the value of Pi is calculated. Our school Principal Mrs. Annamma Paul addressed the gathering and conveyed that the exhibition helped the students to build confidence and erase the fear of maths in them.
Students enthusiastically participated in the exhibition and made wonderful games and amazing models on various topics. All the exhibits prepared, were made under the guidance of our school Principal and our mathematics teacher Mr. Rajeev Mishra and Ms. Farah Shaikh.
The special attraction for the event was a skit prepared by our students depicting the life history of an Indian mathematician – Srinivas Ramanujan. They highlighted how the child prodigy at the age of 11 years exhausted the mathematical knowledge of two college students who were lodged at his home. The event also comprised of a Mathfie corner that represented the integration of math with technology. Few of our students who were dressed as well-known mathematicians where at the mathfie corner and the spectators cherished these moments by clicking selfie with them.
Mr. G. P. Singh, HOD mathematics Dr. Pillai Global Academy Panvel gave a talk on the concept of ‘Pi (π)’. The Principals, Teachers and the students of different institution of MES, Chembur campus, also graced the event. The event was a collaborative effort of all the teachers. Indeed an exhibition gave our students an exposure and confidence to present their thoughts and mind.>
